I've been writing this curriculum for over a year and I'm so pleased with how it's turned out! I'm also getting some lovely feedback on it:

"It's amazing, it takes so much time out of the planning for next year! We do a lot of nature learning but this has so many new ideas." Sam Goldsworthy

"It's a really well thought out document, and delves deeper into a topic than I had ever thought to go. The wider opportunities sections are especially useful for our nature-mad son!" Lucy Brooke

Suitable for

reception teachers, nurseries and preschools, Forest School leaders and childminders

Age range 3-6 years

At a glance:

  • Autumn term lesson plans (7 lessons for the first half term and 6 for the second). The lessons are outlined in the photos above

Details:

This Science and Nature Curriculum aims to teach life science alongside nature. Any of us who have taught children can attest to their fascination in the natural world. They notice the smallest details that we may miss. They ask questions about nature that we don't know the answers to (because we were never taught about it!) and they have an innate curiosity about it.

My aim is to enable you to revolutionise the way that life science is taught, by teaching it through nature. The themes remain the same each year, but pupils will build on the knowledge of the previous year, giving a solid and intricate knowledge of our world and the species present in it.

Autumn and spring nature curriculum

I accidentally bought the autumn nature curriculum planner, which I was guttered about as these books aren’t cheap. But I loved it that much I ordered the spring planner the same day as my other book arrived. I work in a nursery and I will be running my sessions through these books. I can’t wait for a summer book to come out, I will be purchasing it as soon as it does.

A dream curriculum

Having recently discovered Little Robin Education we ordered the curriculum and joined both book clubs for our Childminding setting. We are totally in love with it all, it's clear to see progression and depth of learning, yet all so simple and engaging. We can't wait to get started. Thank you so much.

Just what I needed!

As a childminder I like to follow the seasons and bring nature into our play. So I was thrilled when Jenny produced the Outdoor Science and Nature Curriculum handbook. The added bonus is
that it links in with the updated EYFS. It's going to be a great toolkit of ideas and inspirations, with continuous provision ideas, a handy list of books that support the learning and key words. I'm already a huge fan of the nature identification cards that can be used alongside the handbook. I genuinely can't wait to start using it in the autumn term!
