Do you want to be more confident to go out exploring your local footpaths? Come along to my friendly Navigation for Beginners course in the Dedham Vale! Learn the basics of navigation in no time. From map reading techniques, navigating with a compass, to using tech tools like Ordnance Survey phone app, you'll be outside and enjoying the fresh air in no time. I'm also pretty sure we'll be identifying lots of local flora and fauna on our travels as well!
Run by Dr Jenny Evans, Cambridge biologist and fully qualified and insured Lowland Leader with Mountain Training.
Four two hour long sessions covering the following
Week 1: Map and compass basics, electronic mapping basics
Week 2: Kit and planning a hike
Week 3: Lead a hike
Week 4: Lead a hike
What you need to bring:
A compass (I would recommend a Silva Expedition 4 compass), your smart phone, a drink, waterproofs if the weather looks bad

Do I need any previous experience of map reading?
No! This is designed for complete beginners
How fit do I need to be?
We will hike 4 miles maximum, so you need to be able to walk/be on your feet for two hours (we will be stopping a lot to check our maps etc)
