My 3.5 year old is very interested in dinosaurs at the moment, so when I saw this activity pop up on Pinterest I had to try it with him!
First we made some salt dough:
1 cup flour
0.5 cups salt
Enough water to make a dough (about 0.5 cups)
I then rolled it into balls which he squashed into flat discs. Then we used real fossils we had at home, plus our plastic dinosaurs, to make prints in the dough.
We then baked the discs in the oven at 150 degrees for an hour and left them to cool.
I buried the fossils in some soil (not too deep!) for him to find! He and the baby absolutely loved this activity, and it took up a lot of time, which is always a bonus. I also often find it hard to come up with activities that the baby and preschooler can enjoy together, but this was a hit!
